A high school senior photoshoot can be one of the most important activities that you get to do you senior year. Why? Because you will have these pictures to enjoy for the rest of your life and to be able to share them with others who want to take a walk down memory lane.
So, make it count and level up the photoshoot experience:
1. Stick to Simple Clothing
As much as you might want to go big on stripes, words, prints, and logos, it’s best that you avoid them altogether. Instead, focus on outfits that are classy and simple. Not only do solid colors photograph better, but they also stand the test of time and will not look outdated. Plus, you want milestone photographs where you are the center of attention, and not your clothes.
Keep the colors natural and neutral in hue. Mellow solid colors are the way to go. As for colors, blue, wine, brown, and green are your best options.
2. Your Makeup and Hairstyle
Make sure that your makeup is flawless in natural light (the sun), and not designed for the florescent light that you get indoors. Two completely different looks.
You want your hair to frame your face, have some movement, handle humidity well (we do live in NC), and be beautiful.
3. Less Jewelry
If you plan on wearing jewelry, try to avoid huge, chunky items as they can distract viewers from your face. Also, tiny chains with little pendants can sometimes get lost or turned around in pictures. Less is more in the jewelry department. If you do wear some jewelry, stick to classic, medium size pieces.
4. Practice Posing
I will teach you how to pose for pictures. But if you want to have a little practice first, go for it! Stand in front of your mirror and just play with posing. Try different facial expressions, arm placement, hand placement, feet placement, and leg placement. Browse Instagram for inspirational poses that you may want to try.
Be sure to share with me any poses that you know you can rock so I am sure to use them as much as I can.
A high school senior photoshoot is a great experience. Make it count!
