6 Posing Tips for Boys

What’s is one of the best ways to get the perfect picture? Knowing how to pose. For fellas, there’s not a lot of resources readily available about how to look better in pictures.

Here are a few easy-to-follow tips to help men appear more masculine, confident, and attractive in photographs.

1. Perfect Your Stance

Stand with your feet shoulder length apart. Your legs don't have to line up with your shoulders exactly, but use that measurement of distance apart. This stance will have you appear more confident, like you’re ready to take on the world. Yeeha!

2. Relax Your Shoulders

Remember to relax before each shot. Shoulders tend to rise up toward your ears when you’re trying to have perfect posture for a picture. However, you may appear (and feel) uncomfortable with your shoulders raised. Instead, relax them back down to your normal position. You will look natural if you are more relaxed in your photos.

3. Breath In

Breathing in just a little will accentuate your upper chest while reducing the size of your stomach or midsection. This is the perfect way to achieve that manly look without too much effort. Just remember to breathe in immediately before your photographer is going to take the picture. However, still try to feel (and look) relaxed for the best pose.

4. Use Your Hands and Arms

Hands and arms can look awkward in photographs if you don't give them something to do. With that in mind, think of a way to pose your arms and hands first. You can do this by crossing your arms, using your pockets, or fiddling with a watch … anything that reduces an awkward “I don’t know what to do with my hands” look.

5. Shift Your Weight

Put your weight on one leg. Having your weight on one leg instead of having equal weight on both feet you’ll appear more natural and relaxed.

6. Look Away from The Lens

Don’t look away from the camera for all of your portraits, but it is okay for a few. This can seem counterintuitive, but looking away from the lens will highlight other aspects of your profile. It can also give your pictures some depth if executed correctly. Turning away from the camera can emphasize your jawline which can add to your masculine appearance.
