Senior year of high school marks a lot of milestones for the average young person. It’s often their last year at home with their parents. Their last year with the friends they’ve grown up with. It’s the year they become a legal adult.
Taking senior portraits is the perfect way to commemorate all that they’ve done so far in their life, and a way to celebrate all the things the future has in store.
As an added bonus, senior portraits are good for more than just looking pretty in a nice picture frame. They’re a great way to customize graduation announcements. Creating a customized graduation announcement that uses a photo of the young grad is a great way to show family, friends, and everyone else what an incredible young adult they’ve grown into.
So, a big congratulations to all of the Piedmont Triad Seniors and all of the young grads! I can’t wait to see all of the amazing things you’re going to do!
What Are SENIOR PORTRAITS?
Senior portraits have come a long way in the past few years. Some of you may remember taking a trip to the local photography studio to have some professional looking headshots done. Perhaps you wore a nice sweater for one photo, or maybe something with a collar.
The youth of today are utilizing senior portraits in a whole new way. Their photos are a perfect excuse to express their own individual style and memorialize who they are at this point in their lives.
Today, senior portraits are great to use in a senior yearbook ad from Mom & Dad, for college ID badges, as your LinkedIn headshot image, for an Instagram Profile Photo, as a Facebook Profile Picture, in social media posts, and tons of other useful places.
The best strategy for senior girls is to opt for one look that's got jeans or another casual look, one in-between look like a cotton sundress, and one formal or cocktail dress (a great time to repurpose your prom dress).
For boys, look for jeans and a solid color t-shirt, something a little nicer like a button-down shirt, and then a suit or a blazer with slacks.
Athletes may also want to have a few pictures taken in their jersey or uniform with a few sport items like a football or cheerleading pom-poms.
HOW LONG Until I See My Edited Senior Pictures?
It kind of depends on your schedule and when you book your photo shoot.
• If you book your photo shoot early (in May or June) your pictures should be ready in about 3 - 4 weeks.
• If you wait until July or early August it can take up to 6 weeks.
• During our really busy time (August - October), finished pictures may take as long as 8 weeks.
Senior portraits are all custom work that takes time to complete.
What is the average COST for Senior Pictures?
How much do senior pictures cost? The short answer? Senior pictures can cost anywhere from $100 to $500 and the price on the invoice is as varied as the time, talent, and business model of the photographer you are working with.

When Should You SCHEDULE Senior Pictures?
As you start planning your schedule, remember to leave plenty of time for everything related to your portraits.
The summer after your junior year is when high school senior portrait season officially starts.
Although summer may seem too early, it really isn't; now is the best time to start looking online for a local photographer that you can click with (punny, right?).
